FETAL ALCOHOL SPECTRUM DISORDER (FASD)

Funded by Indigenous Services Canada (previously known as FNIHB)

Provides programs to improve health outcomes associated with First Nations and Inuit maternal, infant child and family health.  The areas include prenatal health, nutrition, early literacy and learning and physical, emotional and mental health.

Working together with families who participate in parent programs servicing both Lennox Island First Nations, Abegweit First Nation and Mi’kmaq Family Resource Centre. Improved parenting skills and FASD education and awareness amongst parents.

Increased participation of women, young moms taking part in support groups and healthier choices.  Building capacity, educate and create awareness through collaboration and aid in the development and delivery of Community based programs that make up Healthy Child Development component (Aboriginal Head start, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Canada Prenatal Nutrition, and Maternal Child Health Program).
